It is composed of 100% Low-Density PolyEthylene (LDPE) that melts at 120°C and therefore can be re-melted over and over again without losing its properties. As it melts in different shapes and colors it appears in different faces, even though available in unlimited combinations ecopixel® is easily recognizable thanks to its pixelized appearance, even when customized. Each product that is made of ecopixel® is unique because the pixels melt together randomly in the production process.
ecopixel® was developed by Claudio Milioto and Jan Puylaert and is a 100% made in Italy production.
Is made with 25mm flakes on special request of Alessandro and Francesco Mendini (Atelier Mendini) to create a customized ecopixel® pattern with specific color choice, but randomly mixed by the production process. An “OPEN SKIN” mixture was obtained in order to achieve the most original appearance possible.
Felice Rossi has chosen, for ecopixel®, DIVINA armchair. Is a sculptural contours to mimic the reposing form of the human body. The furniture provide a simple ‘tabletop’ for the portable technology that now seems to follow us everywhere. DIVINA is designed by Jacco Bregonje.
Quinze & Milan™ is not a typical designer furniture label but more like an avant-garde platform for collaborations, a think tank and factory for ideas, designs, visual culture, concepts and experiments.. Wiel Arets designed the Jellyfish years ago for one of his own projects.
"Since our very inception in 1999 we have been committed to manufacture our products in the most ecological way. Also our foam products can be recycled back into raw materials for new use. Sustainability has always been self-evident for us. Nevertheless we keep looking out for innovative ideas, and ecopixel® is a good example".
"Il materiale ecopixel® ha una estetica fresca, nuova e giovane, e come tale è molto accattivante. Il mix fra questo materiale e i caratteri della sua tecnologia ci ha condotti subito verso l’idea del progetto"
What I like from ecopixel® is the never-ending recycability concept. We should see products as “a precise amount of material that can be re-used for something else”. An ecopixel® product is the perfect example, this inbetween moment of material-solidification, “what was and what will become”.
